Terms of service

Last updated: August 23, 2026

Agreement

By accessing or using Refine, you agree to be bound by these terms of service. If you don't agree, don't use the service. We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know through the app or by email. Continued use after changes means acceptance.

What Refine is

Refine is a job search management tool. It helps you track job applications, record interviews and offers, monitor selected company careers pages for openings, and use those workflows from compatible AI assistants through Refine's hosted MCP server. Refine is a personal productivity tool. It is not a job board, recruiting service, or employment agency. We don't guarantee job placements, interview outcomes, or any particular results from using the service.

Accounts

Guest access

You can explore Refine without creating an account. Guest sessions are temporary. Data from guest sessions may be deleted after 30 days of inactivity. To keep your data, create an account.

Registered accounts

When you create an account, you're responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials. Use a strong, unique password. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time. When you do, we'll delete all your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may persist in analytics systems.

Your data

  • Ownership: you own the content you create in Refine. Job applications, interview notes, and offer details are your data
  • License: you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the service to you
  • Privacy: your job search data is private by default. Refine, its service providers, and clients you authorize may process it only as described in our privacy policy
  • Aggregated data: we may use aggregated statistics that no longer identify you to understand and improve the product

Signals and career page monitoring

Refine's Signals feature monitors public company career pages for new job openings. This data comes from publicly accessible web pages. We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate, timely information, but we cannot guarantee:

  • That all openings on a career page will be detected
  • That detected openings are still active or accepting applications
  • That job details (title, location, department) are completely accurate
  • That notifications will be delivered in real-time

Always verify job details directly on the company's career page before applying.

Connected Google services

Gmail and Google Calendar features are optional. When you connect a Google account, you authorize Refine to use only the permissions shown in Google's consent flow. Depending on the grants you approve, Refine may read relevant mail and calendar data, mark acted-on messages as read, send replies you approve, and synchronize interview events. You can disconnect a Google account and revoke access at any time.

You are responsible for reviewing recipients and message content before approving an email action. Once a message reaches Gmail, Refine may not be able to recall it.

AI assistants and API clients

Refine may let you authorize an AI assistant or other API client through OAuth or a personal access token. The client can access only the Refine scopes you grant. You are responsible for choosing clients you trust, reviewing their requested permissions, supervising consequential actions, and revoking access you no longer want.

Tool descriptions, safety annotations, confirmation fields, generated drafts, classifications, and recommendations are aids rather than guarantees. Review important information and external actions before relying on them.

Acceptable use

Use Refine for its intended purpose: managing your job search. Don't:

  • Scrape, harvest, or programmatically access career page data at a rate that disrupts those services
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit data obtained through Refine
  • Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
  • Use the service to harass, spam, or impersonate others
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of our software
  • Use automation to bypass Refine's supported interfaces, access controls, confirmation requirements, rate limits, or other safeguards. Authorized use through Refine's API or hosted MCP server is permitted

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Service availability

  • We aim for high availability but don't guarantee 100% uptime
  • We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects service availability
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from service interruptions

Pricing and payments

Refine is currently free during our beta period. If we introduce paid plans in the future, we'll give you advance notice and clearly communicate what's included. Existing functionality available during the free period will not be retroactively restricted without providing a comparable free alternative.

Intellectual property

Refine's software, design, brand, and documentation are owned by Refine. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the service without permission. Your content remains yours. We claim no intellectual property rights over the data you create in the product.

Limitation of liability

Refine is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not responsible for:

  • Hiring decisions made by employers
  • Missed job opportunities or application deadlines
  • Accuracy of career page data or job listings
  • Data loss beyond what's covered by our standard backup procedures
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
